Intel 900 Series Chipset Specs for Nova Lake-S

Intel is developing 900 Series chipsets for Nova Lake-S, featuring the Z990 with PCIe 5.0 lanes and a smaller die size than the Z890.

Intel's upcoming 900 Series chipsets for Nova Lake-S desktop platforms include the Z990, which features a 72.475 mm² die and a 25 x 24 mm package, smaller than the Z890's 92.885 mm² die and 28 x 23.5 mm package. The Z990 has a base power consumption of 7.9W, reaching 14W under full load with Gen-5 devices, and a TJMax of 113°C. For connectivity, the Z990, Q970, and W980 chipsets provide PCIe 5.0 lanes directly from the PCH, with the Z990 and W980 offering 12 lanes and the Q970 offering 8. The Z990 supports 48 total PCIe lanes, 8 SATA 3.0 lanes, and various USB ports: five USB 3.2 (20G), ten USB 3.2 (10G), and 14 USB 2. It also supports BCLK and IA overclocking. The Z970 chipset shares the Z990's die size and TJMax but has a lower 6.4W base power consumption compared to the Z890's 6.0W.
