AMD RDNA 5 Radeon RX GPUs Expected in H2 2027

AMD's next-generation Radeon RX GPUs based on RDNA 5 architecture are slated for a late 2027 launch following a major architecture merger.

AMD is preparing its next Radeon RX generation based on the RDNA 5 architecture, with a release window expected in the second half of 2027. This follows the recent global launch of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE. In September 2024, AMD announced the merger of RDNA and CDNA into a unified UDNA architecture to simplify access for developers and users. UDNA will double shader units per Compute Unit from 64 to 128. Reports indicate upcoming GPU chips have completed the tape-out process using TSMC's N3P process. While costs for circuit boards, power supplies, and cooling have stabilized, advanced manufacturing is driving up wafer costs. Additionally, high demand from AI and data centers has kept prices for GDDR6, GDDR7, and HBM memory at elevated levels.
