Bazzite 44 Released with Linux 7.2.0 and GNOME 50

Bazzite 44 launches with over 700 commits, featuring updated kernels, VRAM overcommit patches, and enhanced hardware support for gamers.

Bazzite 44 has officially launched for desktop and handheld builds, delivering over 700 commits in this latest update. The release features the Linux 7.2.0 Open Gaming Collective kernel, Mesa 26.2.1, KDE Plasma 6.6, and GNOME 50 for a modern user experience.

Key technical upgrades include a VRAM overcommit patchset with dmem cgroup support to prioritize games over background apps. Users gain an optional HDMI 2.1 stack for AMD, a Vulkan low-latency layer, and scheduler improvements backported from Linux 7.3.

For hardware support, Cardwire now handles MUX switching for ASUS laptops, while new drivers arrive for Elgato capture cards. Security is bolstered via SBOMs and signed images, ensuring a verified and high-performance environment for all Linux gaming users.
