Micron Technology, Inc. unveiled Micron Research Labs on August 20, 2026, a Boise-based institution backed by a $10 billion investment over the next decade. As the first dedicated U.S. memory research hub, it will focus on advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
The Boise facility is expected to break ground in 2027 and will host hundreds of researchers. Key focus areas include critical memory technologies, compute architectures, and packaging, connecting to Micron's global footprint across Europe, Asia, and India.
This initiative is part of a $250 billion U.S. commitment to manufacturing and R&D, projected to create 90,000 jobs. With 62,000 lifetime patents, Micron aims to lead future innovation alongside partners like NVIDIA, Apple, Applied Materials, and Lam Research.
