Samsung Display has launched the full-scale supply of tandem OLED panels for laptops, achieving the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification. The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition (16", 11) earned this certification on July 8, 2026, using the new tech.
The True Black 1400 tier requires black levels of 0.0005 nits or lower and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits at a 10% On Pixel Ratio. Samsung's tandem OLED panels reach up to 1,600 nits, a significant jump from the 1,100 nits found in single-stack displays.
By stacking two organic emissive layers, this architecture doubles the lifespan compared to single-stack OLEDs. Samsung is supplying these panels to ASUS, Dell, and MSI, and will showcase the technology at K-Display 2026 in Seoul from July 22 to 24, 2026.
