Two Chinese humanoid robots have surpassed the 100-meter dash world record held by Usain Bolt. At the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, the Tiangong Ultra clocked 9.39 seconds, while the Honor's Lightning finished in 9.47 seconds to beat the human mark.
The Tiangong Ultra's time is 0.19 seconds faster than Bolt's 2009 record of 9.58 seconds. It reached an average speed of 23.83 mph, exceeding Bolt's 23.35 mph. During the event, the robot veered right after the finish, while the runner-up fell to the left.
The annual games, launched in 2025, featured 2,056 robots from 16 countries competing in 52 events like boxing and football. While these machines showcase rapid mechanical progress, the FCC currently maintains a ban on foreign-made robots within the U.S.
