Intel is reportedly developing a new Panther Lake 4+0+4+4 SoC specifically designed for gaming handhelds. This configuration features four Performance cores, four LP-E cores, and four Xe3 GPU cores, notably omitting standard Efficient cores for efficiency.
The new entry-level SKU joins a lineup that includes the Arc G3 and G3 Extreme SoCs, which utilize 14-core configurations. These high-end chips power the Arc B370 and B390 integrated graphics, featuring 10-Xe3 and 12-Xe3 cores for premium mobile performance.
This 8-core processor aims to lower the entry barrier for portable gaming. While current Arc G3 handhelds often exceed $1,000, this new Panther Lake silicon could enable manufacturers to produce budget-friendly devices priced at less than $800 for users.
