Valve Reveals Steam Machine Pricing and Specs
Valve has announced pricing for its Steam Machine lineup, starting at $1050, as the company navigates rising component costs and shortages.
Valve published a blog post detailing Steam Machine pricing, with development on the hardware having started in 2023. The base model is priced at $1050, while the 2TB version costs $1350. Valve attributed these costs to global sourcing challenges, including rising RAM and storage prices over the past year and periods of component unavailability. Comparative analysis by Gamers Nexus estimates DIY PC equivalents at $979 for the base specs and $1139 for the 2TB model. Alongside the hardware, Valve is offering SteamOS 3.8 for free, though it currently requires an AMD CPU and GPU. While other hardware platforms are not yet supported, Valve is collaborating with AMD to integrate FSR 4 upscaling features into the Steam Machine.
