Intel to Refresh Raptor Lake for Gaming Laptops

Intel is reviving its Raptor Lake architecture as Raptor Lake Next for the Core 200 series HX gaming notebook segment with DDR4 support.

Intel is reintroducing its Raptor Lake microarchitecture under the internal codename Raptor Lake Next for the gaming notebook HX segment. These processors will use Core (non-Ultra) series 2 (200 series) numbering and support DDR4 memory. Built on the Intel 7 node as a monolithic die, Raptor Lake Next-HX shares silicon with the desktop S-segment. The top SKU offers an 8P+16E configuration with HyperThreading on P-cores for 32 total logical processors. These chips lack low-power island E-cores and target systems with discrete GPUs. The HX segment demands a 55 W base power and three-figure maximum turbo power, mirroring the Core i9-14900HX's 159 W limit. This refresh bridges the gap until Nova Lake reaches gaming notebooks in 2027.
