Trump Urges Apple and Musk to Use Intel Foundries

President Trump promotes US manufacturing, urging Apple and Elon Musk to use Intel as the federal government holds a 10 percent stake.

On June 18, 2026, President Trump promoted Intel and domestic manufacturing, asserting that Apple and Elon Musk's Terafab should produce hardware at Intel. Trump accused Taiwan and other nations of stealing semiconductor factories, noting the US government now holds a ten percent stake in Intel. While Nvidia invested in Intel in 2025 to collaborate on the 2028 Serpent Lake CPU-GPU solution, that investment did not include Intel Foundry. Apple currently produces small series in Texas, but TSMC has stated it cannot meet demand for years. Intel's 18A capacity is expected to be one-third occupied by Clearwater Forest, while Diamond Rapids will ramp in 18A-P in 2027. Despite these developments, Nvidia, Apple, and Musk have not confirmed manufacturing chips at Intel.
