MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ Internals Revealed Before Launch

Intel engineer Bruce Cheng reveals the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ internals, featuring the Arc G3 Extreme SoC and a compact motherboard design.

Intel engineer Bruce Cheng recently shared a LinkedIn post detailing the internal components of the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, which is scheduled for release on June 23rd. The handheld device utilizes the Intel Arc G3 Extreme SoC, positioned centrally on a motherboard co-designed by Intel and MSI to reduce PCB size. Jason Cheah, Global Lead of Intel's Digital Content, noted the collaboration. This hardware enters a market alongside the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X and upcoming AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme devices. The AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme is an 8-core SoC utilizing Zen 5 architecture with three Zen 5 and five Zen 5C cores, paired with a Radeon 890M iGPU featuring 16 RDNA 3.5 Compute Units. The MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ design highlights the engineering effort to optimize internal space for the new Intel-based handheld.
