Right to Repair activist Louis Rossmann is threatening legal action against Samsung after the company refused to replace his failed 4TB 990 Pro SSD. Despite providing error logs proving the drive died within its RAID 1 array, Samsung claimed the unit was healthy after testing and returned it. Rossmann confirmed the drive remains non-functional. Samsung initially offered a $330 refund citing lack of stock, even though the model was listed for $949 on their Amazon store. While Samsung's warranty allows for a refund of current market value if repair or replacement is impossible, Rossmann demands a new drive. He has given Samsung 60 days to provide a replacement before filing a case in Austin, Texas.
