Q1 2026 GPU Market Report: NVIDIA Holds 90% Share

Jon Peddie Research reports Q1 2026 discrete GPU shipments hit 11.8 million units as NVIDIA maintains a dominant 90% market share.

According to the latest market statistics from Jon Peddie Research, discrete graphics card shipments reached 11.8 million units in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 0.6% decline from the previous quarter. During the same period, desktop CPU shipments fell to 15.7 million units. NVIDIA continues to dominate the add-in board (AIB) market with a 90% share, followed by AMD at 8% and Intel at 1%. While NVIDIA and AMD saw shipment declines this quarter, Intel recorded an increase. Recent product activity includes AMD's June 2026 launch of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE and Intel's addition of two models to the Arc Pro series. Looking ahead, the AIB GPU installed base is projected to reach 183 million units by 2029 with a 129% penetration of the desktop PC market, despite a forecast -3.3% compound annual growth rate through 2029. Next-generation GPU launches are anticipated for 2027-2028.
