AMD FSR 4.1 Skips RDNA 3.5 GPU Architecture

AMD confirms FSR 4.1 will not support RDNA 3.5 chips like Strix Point, despite upcoming updates for older RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 desktop GPUs.

At Computex 2026, AMD representatives confirmed that FSR 4.1 is not currently planned for the RDNA 3.5 GPU architecture. This exclusion affects the Strix Point, Krackan Point, and Gorgon Point series, as well as various handheld solutions and Halo products featuring up to 40 Compute Units. While FSR 4.1 was initially exclusive to RDNA 4 Radeon RX 9000 cards, AMD recently announced support for older hardware. RDNA 3 desktop cards like the RX 7900 XTX will receive the update in July 2026, followed by RDNA 2 RX 6000 series cards in early 2027. FSR 4.1 requires more power than FSR 3.1 but delivers superior image quality, with its Performance mode outclassing FSR 3.1 Quality mode. APU users must wait for the Medusa Point successor to access RDNA 4 technology, even as Intel implements Multi-Frame Generation for its integrated GPUs.
