MacBook Ultra to Feature Touch OLED Display

Samsung begins mass production of 8.6-gen OLED panels for the M6 MacBook Pro, which is confirmed to include a touch-sensitive screen.

Tipster Instant Digital reports that the upcoming M6 MacBook Pro, also known as the MacBook Ultra, is confirmed to feature a touch-enabled screen. Samsung began production of 8.6-gen OLED panels for the device in January 2026, achieving a yield of over 90 percent by May 2026. Mass production for 14-inch and 16-inch panels is scheduled for June 2026. The MacBook Ultra utilizes a hybrid OLED architecture combining oxide thin-film transistor and tandem OLED layers. Design specifications include a thin chassis and a hole-punch camera housed within a pill-shaped cutout, enabling a Dynamic Island interface. This transition marks a significant shift for the MacBook lineup, integrating touch-sensitive display technology alongside advanced panel manufacturing processes.
