NVK Driver Merges DLSS Support for Mesa 26.2
The open-source NVK Vulkan driver for NVIDIA GPUs has merged experimental DLSS support via the VK_NVX_binary_import extension.
Phoronix reports that the open-source NVK Vulkan driver for NVIDIA GPUs has officially merged support for DLSS. This feature is integrated into Mesa 26.2 through the VK_NVX_binary_import binary extension, with a stable release scheduled for August 2026. Currently, DLSS support is set to experimental by default and requires users to enable the NVK_EXPERIMENTAL=dlss environmental variable. While performance differences remain between NVK and NVIDIA's proprietary driver, the addition of DLSS is intended to help mitigate performance regressions found in current versions of the open-source driver. This milestone marks a significant step for the NVK project as it works toward closing the feature gap with official proprietary software.
