Chinese Memory Makers Shift to Domestic CXMT Chips

Gloway and KingBank adopt domestic CXMT and YMTC chips for DDR5 modules as HP and Dell begin qualifying the government-backed hardware.

Chinese memory module manufacturers are increasingly replacing components from Samsung, Micron, and SK hynix with domestic alternatives from government-subsidized producers CXMT and YMTC. Brands including Gloway and KingBank recently announced new DDR5 memory modules utilizing domestic 24Gb chips, enabling 24GB modules via an eight-die configuration. CXMT, which has operated for a decade, utilizes its flagship 16nm G4 node to manufacture DDR5 and LPDDR5X chips. While U.S. export controls prevent CXMT from acquiring extreme ultraviolet lithography tools, the company continues production using deep ultraviolet lithography. Adoption is expanding globally; Corsair has integrated CXMT DDR5 chips into select Vengeance kits, while HP and Dell have started qualifying CXMT memory for their own product lines.
