Intel Vice President Robert Hallock confirmed the company will launch its upcoming Nova Lake architecture on desktop platforms before bringing it to the data center. This strategy contrasts with AMD, which debuted its Zen 6 architecture in EPYC Venice CPUs.
Hallock, who joined Intel in 2023 after 12 years at AMD, oversaw the Arrow Lake Refresh launch, including the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus. He noted that Intel's CPU roadmap now extends to 2030, following previous launches like Redwood Cove and Golden Cove cores.
The shift prioritizes enthusiast consumers over enterprise users, a different approach than Nvidia's focus on Vera CPUs. While AMD prepares Zen 6 Olympus Ridge consumer chips, Intel's roadmap ensures long-term competition across desktop and server markets.
