Kioxia and Sandisk Plan $31 Billion Japan Investment

Kioxia and Sandisk aim to invest 5 trillion yen by 2032 to expand flash memory infrastructure at their Yokkaichi and Kitakami plants.

Kioxia Corporation and Sandisk Corporation have announced plans for anticipated investments in Japan totaling over $31 billion, or 5 trillion yen, through 2032. The funding, contingent on government support, will expand infrastructure at the Yokkaichi and Kitakami plants.

The companies, led by Kioxia CEO Hiroo Ota and Sandisk CEO David Goeckeler, will continue their 25-year partnership developing flash-based memory wafers. This follows a January agreement extending their joint venture at the Yokkaichi Plant through December 2034.

This $31 billion initiative aligns with the Takaichi administration's economic goals and builds on $50 billion previously invested in Japan. Kioxia (TSE: 285A) and Sandisk (NASDAQ: SNDK) remain critical partners in the global semiconductor manufacturing sector.
