Micron Boosts U.S. Investment to $250 Billion

Micron Technology (MU) accelerates U.S. expansion, targeting 40% domestic DRAM production and reaching a construction milestone in New York.

Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) has increased its planned U.S. fab and technology investments to over $250 billion through 2035, aiming to produce 40% of its DRAM domestically. On July 9, 2026, the company celebrated the first concrete pour at its Clay, New York site, reaching the milestone more than one quarter ahead of schedule after breaking ground in January 2026. CEO Sanjay Mehrotra was joined by officials including Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Governor Kathy Hochul. The New York project, supported by partners Bechtel, Jacobs, and Gilbane, is expected to create 50,000 jobs. Micron has already directed $675 million to local contractors and committed $50 million to community priorities. Additionally, the company is investing $3 billion in the domestic supply chain and $250 million in Trump Accounts. Meanwhile, Idaho fab production is slated for 2027 and 2028, following 1α DDR4 production launches in Virginia.
