VESA Launches DisplayHDR True Black 1400 Tier

VESA introduces DisplayHDR True Black 1400, a new flagship tier for OLED displays offering 1400 cd/m² peak brightness and deep blacks.

On July 8, 2026, the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) announced DisplayHDR True Black 1400, a new flagship performance tier within its display specification. According to Roland Wooster, chairman of the VESA task group, this standard requires certified displays to achieve at least 1400 cd/m² peak luminance and maintain black levels as low as 0.0005 cd/m². Additionally, the tier mandates a full-screen luminance of at least 700 cd/m² using the DisplayHDR CTS 1.2 testing framework. The Lenovo Yoga Pro 16 is the first notebook PC certified to this standard, featuring Samsung Display Tandem OLED technology to deliver the required brightness and black levels. Lenovo will showcase these first certified displays at Bilibili World 2026 in Shanghai, China, which runs from July 10 to July 12, 2026.
