Linux RAID Patch Optimizes AVX-512 Performance

New Linux RAID code utilizes AVX-512 for xor_gen() functions across Intel Rocket Lake, Sapphire Rapids, and AMD Zen 4 architectures.

A new Linux RAID code patch implements the xor_gen() function using AVX-512, targeting performance improvements across several CPU architectures. Supported hardware includes Intel's 11th Gen Rocket Lake, which officially introduced AVX-512 support, and Sapphire Rapids Xeon processors. While the 12th Gen Alder Lake required users to disable E-cores for AVX-512 access, Intel has expanded its Xeon E-core architecture to include AVX-512 and AVX10.2. AMD's Zen 4 architecture also leverages AVX-512 for xor_gen(), a feature recently tested by Phoronix using a Ryzen 9 9950X. This development comes as Intel prepares for the launch of its upcoming Nova Lake Core generation, expected to arrive around the turn of the year.
