Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects Apple to debut its first foldable smartphone, tentatively named the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold, in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The device is projected to retail between $2,300 and $2,500, with initial sales reaching up to 1 million units in Q3 and 8 million by year-end. Technical specifications include a Samsung M16 OLED cover screen with 10-bit color and COE technology, plus an M14 OLED inner display featuring a 0.15mm crease. The hardware will utilize Ultra-Thin Glass, Ultra-Thin Flexible Glass, a 3D-printed Liquidmetal hinge, and a dedicated vapor chamber for cooling. While resale prices may surge 100% above MSRP due to 4-6 week lead times, studies suggest the device could lose $1,292 in residual value within its first year.
