MSI BIOS Update Boosts CXMT DDR5 to 8,200 MT/s

MSI releases beta BIOS for AM5 motherboards, unlocking stable 8,200 MT/s speeds for ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) 3GB modules.

MSI China has released new beta BIOS updates for its AM5 motherboard lineup, significantly increasing the performance of RAM using ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) modules. Previously limited to approximately 6,800 MT/s, the new firmware allows 3GB CXMT chips to reach stable frequencies up to 8,200 MT/s on dual-DIMM motherboards. Testing conducted by MSI utilized retail kits from Lexar and KingBank across various configurations. A Ryzen 7 9700X on a MEG X870E Unify motherboard achieved 8,200 MT/s with two 24GB sticks, while a Ryzen 5 9600X on a MAG B850 MPower motherboard reached 8,000 MT/s using two 16GB sticks. Both configurations passed MemTest with 101% coverage. Additionally, the patch notes indicate that quad-DIMM speeds have been raised to DDR5-7200. These updates are based on existing stable releases patched with unlocked overclocking features, following similar optimizations MSI provided for Intel 800-series models earlier in 2026.
