Samsung Samples Gaia AI Processor for Next-Gen PCs

Samsung's System LSI unit is sampling Gaia, a 4nm neural processing unit designed to offload AI workloads for HP and Lenovo systems.

Samsung Electronics has begun sampling a dedicated AI processor codenamed Gaia, developed by its System LSI business unit for next-generation AI PCs. Manufactured on a 4nm-class process, this neural processing unit (NPU) is designed to offload AI workloads from the CPU and GPU. HP in the U.S. and Lenovo in China are currently evaluating Gaia to verify performance for potential integration into systems due in late 2027 or early 2028. Samsung's System LSI division, which manages Exynos processors, automotive solutions, and image sensors, previously introduced processing-in-memory technology that embedded compute logic within HBM arrays. Gaia marks a significant step for the unit as it expands its portfolio of specialized silicon, including connectivity chips and display drivers, to meet the growing demands of the AI PC market.
