Nvidia is reportedly developing DLSS 5, a new iteration of its rendering technology. Modders recently extracted a DLSS 5 file from an early access version of NBA 2K27 and have begun injecting it into other titles like Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077 for testing.
Nvidia has not officially released DLSS 5, but plans to offer developers tools to adjust the intensity, color grading, and masking of neural rendering effects. Images shared on Reddit and Resetera show character faces appearing smoothed or photorealistic.
The leak has sparked a debate regarding the impact of AI rendering on creative control. While the technology offers high fidelity, critics express concern that these automated neural effects could potentially override the intended artistic design of games.
