Renan Maniero discovered a new Nvidia library, nvngx_dlssnr.dll, within the early access version of NBA 2K27. This file, titled Nvidia DLSSNR, is associated with the company's DLSS 5 neural rendering technology first introduced by Nvidia in March 2026.
A RenoDX modding toolset developer successfully ran DLSS 5 in the game Control, revealing seven adjustment sliders for parameters like intensity and structure. Current reports indicate the technology only runs on Blackwell GPUs, such as the RTX 50 series.
While Nvidia demonstrated DLSS 5 using dual RTX 5090s, a distilled model shown at SIGGRAPH 2026 runs on single GPUs. Early tests on an RTX 5070 Ti at 4K saw frame rates drop from 71 to 35 FPS, though screenshots show improved light and shadow fidelity.
