Samsung SF1.4 Process May Launch in 2029

Samsung reportedly targets 2029 for its 1.4nm SF1.4 process, utilizing High-NA-EUV technology to compete with TSMC and Intel.

Korean media reports indicate Samsung’s 1.4-nanometer process, designated SF1.4, could begin production in 2029. While originally planned for 2027, the company now aims to utilize High-NA-EUV systems to expose critical layers for the SF1.4 node. Samsung currently possesses three High-NA systems for testing production. This timeline aligns with TSMC’s A14 process, also scheduled for 2029, though TSMC is not expected to adopt High-NA-EUV until 2030 or 2031. Meanwhile, Intel’s 14A process remains on track for late 2027 or early 2028 according to its foundry roadmap. Samsung previously led the industry by manufacturing the first 3-nanometer chips with Gate all Around technology in 2022 and continues its roadmap with the SF2 2-nanometer process.
