On June 25, 2026, 17 plaintiffs, including 14 individuals and businesses like Troy's Computers, filed Garciaguirre v. Samsung Electronics in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Assigned to Judge Noel Wise, the lawsuit alleges Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron—controlling 90% of the DRAM market—violated Section 1 of the Sherman Act by coordinating to inflate prices by 700% over four years. The complaint claims the companies used high-bandwidth memory (HBM) transitions to curtail DDR3 and DDR4 production. Seeking class status and treble damages, the suit follows a dismissed 2018 action. While the firms claim independent operation, SK hynix faced a $185 million fine in 2005. Jefferies forecasts DRAM prices to rise up to 50% in Q3 and 40% in Q4.
