Microsoft to Raise Xbox Console Prices in 2026

Microsoft announced Xbox price hikes effective August 1, 2026, citing a DRAM crisis that has driven storage and memory costs up over 2.5x.

Microsoft announced on June 25 that Xbox Series X|S prices will rise on August 1, 2026, due to an ongoing DRAM crisis. The company stated storage and memory costs have increased over 2.5x and may double again by fall 2027. All 512 GB variants will increase by $100, making the Series S $499.99 and the Series X Digital $749.99. All 1 TB models will rise by $150, bringing the Series S to $599.99 and the Series X to $799.99, while 2 TB SKUs will be discontinued. This second price hike for the hardware comes as Sony PS5 sales broke records despite its $649.99 price point. The announcement precedes the close of the 2025 financial year and follows reports of planned layoffs at Xbox Game Studios amid revenue declines.
