According to leaker Kepler_L2 on NeoGaf, the PlayStation 6 bill of materials has risen by approximately $200 and is now approaching $1,000. This update follows previous estimates of $760 from Kepler_L2 and $743 from Moore's Law Is Dead. As a result, Kepler_L2 suggests a $999 digital-only PlayStation 6 may be the best-case scenario for the market. These rising costs align with Microsoft's price increases for Xbox Series S and X consoles and Valve's $1,049 Steam Machine launch. While the PlayStation 3 debuted at $599 in 2006, the current landscape includes Microsoft's Project Helix and a rumored OLED PlayStation Portal launch in 2026, signaling a shift toward more expensive hardware tiers.
