Chinese chipmaker YMTC became the third-largest player in the global NAND Flash shipment market during Q2 2026, according to Counterpoint Research. The company surpassed Micron, Kioxia, and Sandisk as its bit shipments grew 22% year-over-year and 5% quarterly.
YMTC's growth is driven by its Xtacking 4.0 architecture and mass production of 267-layer 3D NAND. While Samsung leads with 25% share and SK hynix follows at 22%, YMTC is gaining ground. Lenovo now ships YMTC SSDs in Germany, and Apple may add them as a supplier.
The shift highlights a diverging market where YMTC dominates consumer electronics while rivals like Micron and Kioxia focus on AI and enterprise servers. Despite ranking third in shipments, YMTC currently holds the fifth spot in terms of total vendor revenue.
