Mojang has announced that Minecraft will officially launch for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27. This native version features the Vibrant Visuals graphics package as the default setting, providing a significant technical upgrade for the popular sandbox title.
The Vibrant Visuals technology, introduced in June 2025, adds directional light sources, volumetric fog, and dynamic shadows. Players will also see light reflections on water and horizon-extending clouds, with support for compatible Minecraft Marketplace content.
Existing Nintendo Switch owners can access a digital upgrade path to the new version. The update includes an enhanced Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, featuring exclusive textures, music, and skins optimized for the new lighting and reflection capabilities of the hardware.
