RPCS3 Update Boosts Arm Performance by 60%

Developer Whatcookie releases major RPCS3 optimizations for Arm processors, delivering a 60% performance jump and 25% better efficiency.

Developer Whatcookie has released a significant update for the RPCS3 PlayStation 3 emulator after six months of optimization. The patch introduces a 60% average performance boost and a 25% efficiency increase per-watt specifically for Arm-based processors.

The update fixes unoptimized x86 wait instructions, accounting for 25% of the gains. On the Ayn Odin 2 handheld, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is now playable, while Demon's Souls is no longer CPU-bound on modern Arm devices despite the Odin 2's hardware limits.

These improvements apply to Arm-based desktops, handhelds, and Copilot+ laptops running Windows, macOS, or Linux. While current Android forks of RPCS3 do not yet benefit, the mainline patch significantly enhances the viability of PS3 emulation on mobile chips.
