Silicon Motion Debuts PCIe Gen6 and AI SSD Tech

Silicon Motion unveils high-performance PCIe Gen6 and Gen5 controllers for enterprise, AI, and consumer storage at FMS 2026.

Silicon Motion introduced a new lineup of storage controllers at FMS 2026, led by the SM8466 PCIe Gen6 enterprise controller. The SM8466 achieves 28 GB/s sequential speeds and 7 million IOPS, supporting capacities over 512 TB. For hyperscale and AI inference, the SM8388 PCIe Gen5 controller offers a single-controller architecture, while the SM8008 OCP-compliant boot drive controller delivers 14 GB/s at under 5 watts. The SM2524XT DRAM-less controller targets edge AI and PCs with 14.5 GB/s reads and 2.8 million IOPS. Consumer and edge AI needs are met by the SM2508, providing 14.5 GB/s read/write speeds and 2.5 million IOPS. Additionally, the SM2755 UFS 4.1 controller was launched for AI-capable smartphones, wearables, and intelligent edge devices.
