Samsung Unveils Titanium Flex Display Technology

Samsung's new Titanium Flex technology uses ultra-thin titanium-alloy film and plates to boost foldable display durability and stiffness.

Samsung is introducing Titanium Flex, a new display architecture featuring a titanium-alloy film positioned beneath the OLED panel. This film, which is approximately 30 percent the width of a human hair, provides 20 times the stiffness of plastic films used in previous foldable models. The structure is further bolstered by a titanium plate located beneath the display module. This plate includes micro-patterned holes designed to eliminate air gaps between the module and adhesive, collectively increasing the display's resistance to micro-cracks. While Samsung is expected to use a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic backplate for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra, the company is scheduled to formally unveil its latest lineup of foldables in approximately one week from July 15, 2026.
