Taiwan authorities raided Super Micro Computer offices amid a $2.5 billion investigation into smuggling NVIDIA AI chips into China.

Taiwan's Keelung District Prosecutors' Office raided Super Micro Computer offices during an investigation into the smuggling of NVIDIA AI chips into China. Albatron Technology Co, a Super Micro distributor, confirmed the raid in a filing. The action follows US charges against Super Micro's co-founder and a contractor for allegedly smuggling $2.5 billion in chips; both pleaded not guilty in New York. Although re-exporting chips from Taiwan to China is not a crime under Taiwanese law, Super Micro is cooperating with authorities to ensure export control compliance. The company ended its relationship with the contractor and placed two employees on leave. Super Micro, which assembles NVIDIA chips for data centers, saw its shares fall 33% after the indictment.
