Windows 11 Weather App Consumes Over 1GB of RAM

The default MSN Weather app in Windows 11 uses nearly 1.2 GB of memory, raising concerns for users on devices with 8 GB of RAM.

Windows Latest reports that the default MSN Weather application in Windows 11 can consume over 1 GB of RAM. Testing shows the app utilizes nearly 1.2 GB of memory while open without user interaction, a significant footprint for a basic system utility.

The MSN Weather app includes advertisements, unlike the macOS version which uses five times fewer resources and lacks ads. Microsoft recently removed documentation suggesting 32 GB of RAM for new PCs, maintaining that 8 GB devices are optimized for Windows 11.

This high memory usage represents approximately 15% of available RAM on an 8 GB configuration. Such resource consumption by a default application challenges Microsoft's claims regarding smooth performance on devices with limited memory specifications.
