Square Enix is set to release Final Fantasy XIV Online for the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4, 2026, following a one-month early access phase. The digital Complete Edition, which includes all expansions through Dawntrail, requires 117.2 GB of storage space. This footprint occupies nearly 46% of the console's nominal 256 GB internal capacity, surpassing the 102 GB required for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth but falling short of the 131 GB Kingdom Hearts Collection. To manage storage, the Switch 2 exclusively supports microSD Express cards up to 2 TB, rendering standard microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards incompatible for game storage. Current pricing for compatible media includes a 256 GB Nintendo-branded SanDisk card for nearly 54 Euro and a 512 GB microSD Express EX1 for approximately 125 Euro. While a Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required, a separate game subscription is mandatory. The Complete Edition includes 30 days of free play time, and existing players with active time on other platforms can access a half-price Switch 2 tariff.
