Intel Licenses Atom Chip Technology to Rosaic
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan partners with Rosaic's Amarjit Gill to transfer Atom processor RTL code for low-power computing applications.
Intel is providing its low-power Atom chip technology to Rosaic, a startup led by Amarjit Gill. Gill previously co-founded Nuvia and Rivos alongside Lip-Bu Tan, who assumed the role of Intel CEO in 2025. Under the agreement, Intel will transfer register-transfer level (RTL) code for Atom processors to Rosaic. This code defines how input data from hardware moves to the output from CPU registers. The move follows Intel's recent expansion of the Atom lineup, including two X Series chips released in the third quarter of 2025 and new models announced in the first quarter of 2026. While Intel and AMD dominate the x86 microarchitecture market, Chinese firms like Shanghai Zhaoxin Semiconductor Co., Ltd. and Hygon Information Technology also produce personal computing chips.
