MSI High-Efficiency Mode Cuts AM5 Memory Latency

MSI's new High-Efficiency Mode for AM5 motherboards optimizes DDR5 timings to match AMD EXPO ULL performance on standard memory kits.

MSI has introduced High-Efficiency Mode for its AM5 motherboards, a BIOS feature designed to reduce memory latency on standard DDR5 modules by tweaking timings similarly to AMD EXPO Ultra Low Latency (ULL) technology. In testing with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D on an MSI B850MPOWER motherboard, a standard G.Skill F5 6000 MT/s EXPO kit with CL30-38-38-96 timings saw latency drop from 79.4 ns to 71.6 ns using the feature. This performance nearly matches the 71.4 ns achieved by a dedicated EXPO ULL kit. Available in the MSI CLICK BIOS X under the Overclocking tab, the mode offers four presets: Tightest, Tighter, Balance, and Relax. Users can access these optimizations by downloading the latest BIOS from the official MSI website to enhance their existing hardware's efficiency.
