Nvidia and Noetra to Build 140MW AI Factory in Japan

Nvidia and Noetra Corp. are building a 140MW AI factory with 27,500 Rubin GPUs to power Japan’s FRONTia physical AI robotics program.

Nvidia is partnering with Japan's Noetra Corp., a consortium including SoftBank, Sony, NEC, and Honda, to build a 140-megawatt AI factory. Utilizing 382 Vera Rubin NVL72 racks, the facility will house 27,500 Rubin GPUs and 13,750 Vera CPUs via the DSX platform and Spectrum-X Ethernet. This infrastructure supports FRONTia, a state-funded program training open multimodal models for robotics and industrial automation. Following a June 2026 NEDO tender win, the project received 387.3 billion yen in initial funding, with a potential 1 trillion yen total through 2030. With Rubin GPUs estimated at $55,000 each, the facility targets a reasoning model by 2026 and spatial-aware AI by 2030. Pretrained weights will be shared with domestic developers to support Japan's March 2026 AI Robotics Strategy.
