OpenAI Debuts Codex Micro Macropad for $230

OpenAI has launched the Codex Micro, a $230 hardware macropad built by Work Louder to control the Codex agentic coding platform.

OpenAI has entered the hardware market with the Codex Micro, a specialized macropad for its Codex agentic coding platform. Manufactured by Work Louder and based on the Creator Micro 2 platform, the $230 device (identifier kbd-1.0-codex-micro) features thirteen mechanical keys, a rotary encoder, a joystick, and a capacitive touch sensor. The CNC'd aluminum and polycarbonate body includes six translucent keys with integrated LEDs and RGB perimeter lighting that signal agent states: white for idle, green for unread chat, blue for thinking, peach for questions, and red for errors. Users can launch workflows like PR reviews or debugging via the joystick and adjust reasoning levels with the encoder. The kit includes 32 command keycaps and offers a choice of clicky or silent switches on the Work Louder website.
