NVIDIA has finalized a financial guarantee for OpenAI's new data center at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Ohio. The agreement covers land, power, and shell costs for an initial 4.25 IT-gigawatts, with an option to expand to the full 8-gigawatt capacity.
SB Energy will build, own, and operate the facility under a 20-year lease to OpenAI. NVIDIA is investing $1.5 billion in SB Energy and serves as the exclusive infrastructure provider. Capacity is scheduled to begin coming online in phases starting in 2028.
This project marks OpenAI's first directly leased campus. While NVIDIA stock fell 5% on earlier guarantee reports, the firms are now discussing up to $350 billion in chip financing. Jensen Huang's firm remains the primary compute partner for the massive site.
