Brazilian YouTuber TecLab has demonstrated a modified GeForce RTX 5090 D GPU featuring power cables soldered directly to the PCB traces. The demonstration utilized a GALAX RTX 5090 D HOF OC LAB XOC model, which natively includes dual 16-pin power connectors.
To achieve this setup, TecLab used two adapters to combine wires from 16-pin cables for direct soldering. The hardware configuration was supported by an external cooling machine for the GPU substrate and two fans blowing air directly onto the components.
The modified system successfully booted and completed tests without issues. While the experiment showcases extreme hardware modification, users should note that soldering power cables directly to the GPU PCB voids the manufacturer warranty for the device.
