Chinese NAND manufacturer YMTC is preparing for an initial public offering to fund a major production expansion. According to the Financial Times, the company aims to achieve global market leadership in the NAND sector by the end of 2027 through this IPO.
The firm plans to operate five new factories, including Fab 4 and Fab 5, which will provide 100,000 wafers per month each by 2027. This follows a similar move by CXMT. YMTC targets a total capacity of 300,000 WPM, with a small portion dedicated to LPDDR.
YMTC currently holds a 14% market share, trailing SK Hynix at 22% and Samsung at 25%. While rivals prioritize DRAM and HBM, YMTC's NAND focus could see its 300,000 WPM capacity surpass SK Hynix's projected 260,000 WPM by the end of the 2027 calendar year.
