AMD Adds Zen 6 Support to Linux Kernel 7.3

AMD initiates Linux support for Zen 6 Olympic Ridge processors, featuring 2nm manufacturing and core counts up to 24 on the AM5 socket.

AMD has officially initiated Linux kernel support for its upcoming Zen 6 desktop processors within version 7.3. The update introduces protocol version 7 for the Host System Management Port, specifically targeting the Family 1Ah Model 80H hardware series.

Known by the codename Olympic Ridge, these Ryzen 10000 series chips will utilize TSMC's advanced N2 2nm manufacturing node. The updated AMD PMF platform driver now includes a new ioctl interface to provide detailed device metrics for these processors.

Zen 6 marks a major shift with CCD core counts increasing from 8 to 12. This allows for new 12, 16, 20, and 24-core configurations. These CPUs remain compatible with the Socket AM5 platform, which has supported AMD desktop chips since the Zen 4 launch.
