CXMT DDR5 Memory Hits 9,000 MT/s on AMD Platform

Chinese manufacturer CXMT achieved 9,014 MT/s speeds using 17nm DDR5 chips on an AMD X870E motherboard with CL28 latencies.

Chinese memory manufacturer CXMT has achieved a significant performance milestone, reaching memory speeds of 9,000 MT/s on the AMD platform. Using an iGame Shadow II 24Gx2 kit with 48 GB of memory, the hardware hit a frequency of 4,507 MHz during testing.

The test utilized a Colorful iGame X870E VULCAN W OC motherboard to surpass the 9,014 MT/s mark via double data rate technology. This follows a 2025 announcement of 8,000 MT/s capabilities, with current testing also spanning ASUS boards and CL28 latencies.

CXMT produces these DDR5 chips on a 17 nm node with a 90% yield. While this performance is competitive, Samsung maintains a slight lead in efficiency, utilizing a 10 nm class node that currently delivers a 2-3% higher yield than the Chinese manufacturer.
