Surface Laptop Ultra Benchmarked with RTX Spark
A TechPowerUp forum user tested a Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra featuring the NVIDIA RTX Spark SoC and Blackwell GPU with CUDA support.
TechPowerUp forum user Fouquin recently reviewed a Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra allegedly found on the side of a road. The device features an NVIDIA RTX Spark Arm-based SoC with a 20-core CPU and a 6,144-core Blackwell GPU. After updating to NVIDIA preview driver 616.00 for CUDA support, idle power consumption rose from 7-8 W to 12 W in Balanced mode and 23 W in Performance mode. Benchmarks using the Phoronix suite and Cinebench 2024 showed a multicore score of 1,386, while Cinebench 2026 results reached 5,771 multicore and 540 single-core at an 80 W PL1 limit. The SoC PL2 maxes at 95 W, with the GPU maintaining consistent performance on battery or wall power via a 50 W TGP Max-Q configuration. Thermal testing saw CPU cores hitting 100C at 2.8 GHz, while the GPU reached 2.2 GHz. Features include a camera-based wake system and auto-dimming keyboard backlighting, though the unit experienced a lock-up after one hour.
