Micron Taiwan Workers Vote for Industrial Action

The Micron Taiwan union seeks formal mediation in September to replace the current bonus plan with a profit-sharing arrangement.

Micron workers in Taiwan are moving toward formal labor negotiations as 80% of surveyed union members support industrial action. The dispute centers on the current employee bonus structure, with the union demanding a shift to a profit-sharing arrangement.

The union seeks to replace the existing Incentive Pay Plan, which caps annual performance payments at 200% of the target. While no strike has started as of August 31, 2026, both parties are expected to enter formal mediation in the middle of September 2026.

This labor tension is critical as Taiwan accounts for 60% of Micron's global production, including HBM. With retail memory prices rising and SK hynix warning of tight supply through 2030, any disruption at this DRAM leader could impact the global market.
